This song is about Naruto and Sasuke’s relationship from Sasuke’s point of view.

Verse one:

Twice I turn my back on you
I fell flat on my face but didn’t lose
Tell me where would I go
Tell me what led you on I’d love to know

Twice Sasuke has left Naruto’s team, though he never had the intention of staying.

In their original fight at the falls, Sasuke fought to the point of death yet barely came to victory.

Sasuke has lived a driven but drifting life

Naruto always believed that Sasuke would stay or rejoin him, despite Sasuke having always said the otherwise.

Was it the blue night
Gone fragile
Was it about the men
In wonder steady gone under
Was it the light ways
So frightening
Was it two wills
One mirror holding us dearer now

Sasuke is the blue night. Had he allowed himself the weakness of gaining an attachment with Naruto?

The light ways are the chidori and the rasengan

The two wills refers to their constantly intersecting life paths that often puts them against each other.

The two wills as well as the mirror also refers to how Sasuke and Naruto are said to have inherrited the conflict between Madara and the first Hokage.

Thought I had an answer once
But your random ways swept me along
Colossal signs so I got lost
With so many lovers singing soft

Reflecting on his youth, Sasuke thought that revenge was the path needed to bring his clan back. Sasuke did not connect with anyone and focused on his studies.

Naruto’s random ways softened his ego and they created a bond of friendship.

Directed by Michael Mann

Cinemaography by Dante Spinotti

In Michael Mann’s 1986 Manhunter we are first introduced to our antagonist with shades of red. Here the “Red Dragon” stands over his victim with implicit control over the situation. When we meet the man the killer rest inside we the film pulls more towards shades of blue and green.
